Product Lines

Tank Water Heaters (Standard)

Bradford White — Spartan's primary tank water heater brand.

  • 40-gallon models: Standard for 1-2 person households or lower-demand applications. Gas and electric available.
  • 50-gallon models: Most commonly installed. Suitable for 2-4 person households. This is the default recommendation for most residential replacements.
  • 75-gallon models: Large families (5+) or high-demand homes with multiple bathrooms.
  • Key features to highlight: ICON System (intelligent gas control), Vitraglas enamel lining, hydrojet total performance system, Defender safety system on gas models.
  • Standard warranty: 6-year, 8-year, and 12-year options depending on model tier.

Key Specs to Know

  • Recovery rate: How quickly the heater produces hot water. Higher BTU = faster recovery.
  • First hour rating: Total gallons of hot water delivered in the first hour. Match to household demand.
  • Energy factor (UEF): Efficiency rating. Higher = lower operating costs for the customer.
  • Venting: Power vent, direct vent, or atmospheric vent. Must match the home's existing setup or plan for conversion.

What to Present to Customers

  • Frame in terms of comfort and reliability, not specs: "This unit will keep up with your family's hot water needs, even when everyone's showering in the morning."
  • Explain warranty tiers in Good/Better/Best: longer warranty = better investment protection.
  • Point out energy savings: "The higher efficiency model can save you $X per year on gas/electric bills."
  • Always mention Spartan's labor warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty.

Important Notes

  • Never install customer-supplied water heaters — Spartan installs what Spartan provides.
  • Check for CO testing requirements after every gas water heater installation (see CO Testing After Water Heater Install).
  • If the existing installation has code violations (improper venting, no expansion tank, no drip pan), these must be corrected during replacement.
  • Always verify gas line sizing can support the new unit, especially when upgrading capacity.
