On-the-Job Injury Response
Purpose
Establish a clear, consistent procedure for responding to any workplace injury at Spartan Plumbing, ensuring injured employees receive prompt medical care and all incidents are properly documented for workers' compensation.
When to Use
- Any injury sustained while on the job, regardless of severity
- This includes cuts, burns, falls, strains, dog bites, chemical exposure, vehicle accidents, or any other physical injury
- Also applies to illness believed to be caused by workplace conditions (e.g., CO exposure, heat stroke)
Procedure
Immediate Response
Reporting (Required Within 1 Hour)
Medical Attention
Documentation (Within 24 Hours)
Return to Work
Important Notes
- ALL injuries must be reported, even if they seem minor — unreported injuries can become serious and may not be covered by workers' comp if reported late
- Spartan Plumbing will never penalize an employee for reporting a legitimate workplace injury
- Ohio BWC requires timely reporting — delays can jeopardize your claim
- If you witness a coworker's injury, stay with them and help them follow this procedure
