OSHA Training Requirements
Purpose
Outline OSHA training requirements applicable to Spartan Plumbing employees and ensure compliance with federal workplace safety standards.
Who This Applies To
All Spartan Plumbing employees, with specific additional requirements for field technicians.
General OSHA Requirements (All Employees)
- OSHA requires employers to provide a safe workplace and train employees on hazards they may encounter
- Spartan Plumbing covers OSHA compliance through initial safety orientation and ongoing training
- Employees must participate in all safety training provided by the company
OSHA Training Topics Covered at Spartan
During Onboarding
- Hazard communication (chemical safety and SDS access)
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and proper use
- Emergency procedures (fire, medical, evacuation)
- Reporting injuries and unsafe conditions
Ongoing Training
- Excavation and trenching safety (for install crews)
- Confined space awareness (for techs working in crawlspaces, attics)
- Fall protection and ladder safety
- Hot work and fire prevention
- Lockout/tagout awareness (when working near electrical or mechanical equipment)
Recommended Additional Training
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction (recommended for all field employees)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction (recommended for supervisors and leads)
- First Aid/CPR certification (recommended for all field employees)
- Spartan may cover costs for these certifications — check with the office

- OSHA can inspect any workplace at any time — Spartan must always be in compliance
- If you feel a work situation is unsafe, you have the right to refuse the task and report it without retaliation

- Training records are maintained by the office — if you need documentation of your training, request it
