Purpose
Procedures for sewer line repair and replacement.
When to Use
- Camera inspection reveals sewer line damage requiring repair or replacement
- Customer has approved estimate for sewer work
Methods
Spot Repair (Localized Damage)
Locate the damaged section from camera inspection measurements
Call OUPS (811) and wait for utility marks before digging
Excavate to expose the damaged section — follow Excavation Safety SOP
Cut out the damaged section and replace with appropriate material
Use approved couplings and fittings
Backfill properly per Excavation Safety procedures
Camera inspect to verify repairFull Line Replacement
Camera inspect to document full line condition
Call OUPS and wait for utility marks
Plan excavation route to minimize property damage
Excavate and remove old line
Install new line with proper grade (1/4 inch per foot minimum)
Connect to existing house plumbing and city sewer/septic
Backfill in layers with proper compaction
Camera inspect completed installation
Schedule inspection if required by local codePipe Lining (Trenchless)
Clean the existing line thoroughly (jetting)
Camera inspect to verify line is suitable for lining
Install liner per manufacturer specifications
Cure and camera inspect the completed liner
Reconnect any lateral connectionsImportant Notes
- Sewer work requires permits in most Ohio municipalities — coordinate with office
- OUPS call is mandatory before any excavation — no exceptions

- Document extensively: before, during, after photos and video
- Restore the property as close to original condition as possible
