Inspection Checklists by Job Type

Overview

This card provides the pre-inspection checklists for common Spartan installation job types that require permits and inspections. A job that fails inspection costs Spartan time, money, and reputation. Use this checklist before calling for inspection.

Who This Applies To

Install technicians on all permitted jobs.

Water Heater Installation — Pre-Inspection Checklist

• [ ] Permit posted at job site
• [ ] Expansion tank installed (required on closed-loop systems — confirm with local jurisdiction)
• [ ] T&P relief valve properly installed with full-size drain line to within 6" of floor
• [ ] Correct venting type and size (Category I, III, or direct vent per manufacturer)
• [ ] Vent connectors properly supported with no sag
• [ ] Gas connection leak-tested (no bubbles)
• [ ] CO test completed and documented — readings in ServiceTitan
• [ ] Seismic strapping (if required by local code)
• [ ] Before and after photos uploaded to ServiceTitan

Sewer Line Replacement — Pre-Inspection Checklist

• [ ] Permit posted at job site
• [ ] Trench open for inspection (do NOT backfill before inspection)
• [ ] Correct pipe material (confirm local code — PVC SDR-35 most common in Dayton area)
• [ ] Correct slope: minimum 1/4" per foot
• [ ] Proper cleanout access installed per code
• [ ] All joints visible and accessible for inspector
• [ ] Photos of installed pipe before backfill uploaded to ServiceTitan

Repiping — Pre-Inspection Checklist

• [ ] Permit posted at job site
• [ ] All new pipe visible (access panels open or walls open where required)
• [ ] Correct pipe materials used (copper or PEX per Spartan standards)
• [ ] Correct strapping intervals
• [ ] Pressure test performed (document result)
• [ ] No cross-connections between hot and cold
• [ ] Photos of all rough-in work uploaded to ServiceTitan

Gas Line Work — Pre-Inspection Checklist

• [ ] Permit posted at job site
• [ ] Pressure test with manometer performed and documented
• [ ] All gas connections leak-tested with approved solution (no bubbles)
• [ ] CSST properly bonded (if applicable)
• [ ] CO test for any gas appliance connection
• [ ] Photos uploaded to ServiceTitan

Failed Inspection

If the inspection fails:

Note exactly what the inspector flagged

Contact Production Concierge immediately — same day

Do not correct the deficiency until Production Concierge approves the fix

Schedule reinspection after correction

Document all additional work in ServiceTitan
