First Week Checklist

Purpose

Provide a checklist for new employees to complete during their first week at Spartan Plumbing, ensuring nothing is missed in the onboarding process.

Checklist — Complete All Items During Week 1

Day 1 — Orientation

  • [ ] Complete new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, direct deposit, emergency contacts)
  • [ ] Set up Paylocity account (clock-in, pay stubs, PTO requests)
  • [ ] Set up company email (Google Workspace)
  • [ ] Download and set up Slack on your phone (see Slack Mobile Tutorial)
  • [ ] Review and sign company policies (vehicle, credit card, attendance, drug-free workplace)
  • [ ] Receive uniform issue (shirts, hat, name badge)
  • [ ] Review Spartan core values and mission with your supervisor
  • [ ] Meet your onboarding buddy/mentor

Day 2 — Systems and Vehicle

  • [ ] ServiceTitan account setup and basic orientation
  • [ ] Vehicle assignment and first Daily Vehicle Inspection with supervisor
  • [ ] Tool and equipment issue — sign acknowledgment form
  • [ ] Review Enterprise gas card setup (PIN = last 4 of your phone number)
  • [ ] Truck organization and inventory review
  • [ ] GeoTab orientation (what it tracks, expectations)

Days 3-5 — Safety and Role Introduction

  • [ ] Complete safety orientation (PPE, emergency protocols, hazard assessment)
  • [ ] Review your 90-day onboarding plan with your supervisor
  • [ ] Begin ride-alongs or shadowing (per your role's onboarding track)
  • [ ] Set up any additional system access needed for your role
  • [ ] Complete Daily Uniform Fit and Vehicle Check independently
  • [ ] Post your first Slack check-in in the appropriate channel

End of Week 1 — Confirmation

  • [ ] Confirm all systems are accessible and working
  • [ ] Have a check-in conversation with your supervisor about how the week went
  • [ ] Review any questions or concerns from the week
  • [ ] Confirm your schedule for Week 2

Important Notes

  • Your supervisor is responsible for ensuring you complete this checklist
  • If any item is blocked (system access, equipment availability), flag it with your supervisor immediately
  • Do not feel rushed — it is better to complete everything correctly than to skip steps
  • Refer to this checklist daily during your first week
