Cell Phone & Technology Use
Policy Statement
Cell phones and personal technology devices are valuable tools at Spartan Plumbing but must be used responsibly. Personal use during work hours must not interfere with your duties, safety, or customer experience.
Who This Applies To
All Spartan Plumbing employees.
Acceptable Use During Work Hours
- ServiceTitan app for job management, invoicing, and documentation
- Slack for team communication, job channel updates, and check-ins
- Phone calls to dispatch, supervisors, or customers related to active jobs
- GPS/navigation to job sites
- Quick personal texts or calls during breaks or between jobs
Prohibited Use
- Texting or using apps while driving — Ohio law and Spartan policy (zero tolerance)
- Extended personal calls or social media during active job time
- Taking personal photos or videos at customer properties
- Recording customers without their knowledge or consent
- Any use that distracts from safety-critical work (soldering, operating equipment, working at heights)
iPad and Company Device Policy
- iPads issued by Spartan are for business use only
- iPads are managed through the company locker system — follow iPad Locker Access procedures
- Do not install personal apps, games, or content on company devices
- Report lost or damaged company devices to the office immediately
Important Notes
- Customers notice when a technician is on their phone — it signals you are not focused on their problem
- If you need to take a personal call during a job, step away from the customer and keep it brief
- Inbound calls to Spartan must be recorded — ensure calls are made through proper channels
- Repeated violations of cell phone policy during customer interactions will be addressed through progressive discipline
