90-Day Review & Independent Crew Assignment
Overview
The 90-Day Review is the final checkpoint for install tech onboarding. A tech who passes is certified for independent crew assignment — they lead their own installation jobs without a senior tech present. Conducted by Josh Ferguson with Operations Manager.
Who Conducts
Josh Ferguson with Operations Manager. Documented and signed by all parties.
Assessment Format
Section 1 — Performance Metrics Review
From ServiceTitan over the past 30 days:
- Photo and documentation compliance (target: 100%)
- Callbacks and rework rate (target: under 3%)
- Permit compliance — all required permits pulled and inspections scheduled
- Lead tech quality sign-off trend during Weeks 6–8
Section 2 — Technical Certification
Josh or Production Concierge verifies the tech can independently handle:
- Water heater replacement (tank, 40/50 gal) — including CO test and expansion tank
- Tankless water heater installation — venting, gas, and water connections
- Basic repiping (PEX and copper) — strapping, joints, pressure test
- Permit process for common install types
- When to stop a job and call Production Concierge (scope changes, structural issues, code violations)
Section 3 — Permit & Inspection Certification
Confirm the Permit & Inspection Certification SOP has been completed and signed. If not complete, it becomes a condition of independent crew assignment.
Section 4 — Compensation & Development Review
- Base pay confirmation in Paylocity
- Bonus structure reviewed (install techs have different incentive structure than service techs)
- Specialization path options discussed (water treatment, gas line work)
- 6-month goals set
Completion
Tech receives independent crew assignment in ServiceTitan dispatch. No longer requires lead tech to be present. Production Concierge remains available for escalation calls.
