Attendance & Punctuality

Policy Statement

Spartan Plumbing depends on every team member showing up on time, every day. Reliable attendance is essential to serve our customers and support your teammates. This policy defines expectations and consequences for attendance issues.

Who This Applies To

All Spartan Plumbing employees — field and office.

Requirements

  • Be at your assigned starting location (shop, first job, or home start) at your scheduled time
  • Clock in using Paylocity at the start and end of each shift
  • If you will be late for any reason, notify your supervisor AND dispatch as early as possible — ideally before your shift starts
  • Tardiness is defined as arriving more than the 15-minute grace period after your scheduled start time

Call-Off Procedure

  • If you cannot work your scheduled shift, call your supervisor directly — do not just text or Slack
  • Call at least 1 hour before your shift start time
  • Provide the reason and expected return date
  • A no-call no-show (failing to call or show up) is a serious violation
  • Attendance Tracking

    • Attendance is tracked in Paylocity
    • Unexcused absences, tardiness, and patterns (e.g., frequently calling off on Mondays or Fridays) are documented and reviewed

    Disciplinary Actions

    • Tardiness (after grace period): verbal warning, then written warning, then further action per progressive discipline
    • Unexcused absence: documented and counted toward attendance record
    • No-call no-show: first occurrence is a written warning; second occurrence may result in termination
    • Pattern of absence: even with call-offs, patterns of unreliable attendance will be addressed through progressive discipline

    Spartan Plumbing Attendance Policy Details

    • A 15-minute grace period exists — arriving within 15 minutes of your scheduled start is not considered tardy
    • Arriving after the 15-minute grace period counts as tardy
    • Three tardies in a rolling 30-day period trigger a coaching conversation
    • Excessive call-offs (even with notice) may require a doctor's note or other documentation

    Important Notes

    • Life happens — Spartan understands. But communicate early and honestly
    • If you have a recurring issue that affects attendance (medical, family, transportation), talk to your supervisor proactively
    • On-call shifts have separate attendance rules — see After-Hours Dispatch Procedures
    • Payroll is posted on Mondays — review and approve by 8 AM the following day
