Purpose

Installation procedures for kitchen plumbing including sinks, faucets, disposals, dishwasher connections, and supply lines.

When to Use

  • Kitchen renovation or fixture replacement project

Procedure

  • Review scope: sink, faucet, disposal, dishwasher connection, supply lines
  • Protect countertops, flooring, and cabinets
  • Shut off water supply
  • Remove old fixtures and plumbing
  • Install sink clips and seal sink to countertop (undermount or drop-in per design)
  • Install faucet per manufacturer instructions
  • Connect hot and cold supply lines — new braided stainless
  • Install garbage disposal if in scope (see Garbage Disposal Replacement)
  • Connect dishwasher drain and supply if in scope
  • Install P-trap and connect drain line
  • Restore water, run all fixtures, check every connection for leaks
  • Run dishwasher through a cycle to verify connections
  • Test disposal operation
  • Clean up and walkthrough with customer
  • Important Notes

    • Kitchen sink installations involve many connection points — methodical leak checking is essential
    • Dishwasher drain must connect before the P-trap (not after)
    • If disposal is being installed, knock out dishwasher drain plug inside disposal
    • Coordinate with countertop installer on timing if applicable
    • Protect customer's cabinets and flooring throughout
