Purpose
Installation procedures for water treatment systems by install crews.
When to Use
- Scheduled water treatment installation (softener, RO, whole-house filter)
Softener Installation
Select location: near main water entry, drain access, power outlet nearby
Install bypass valve assembly on main line
Connect inlet and outlet — verify correct flow direction
Connect drain line to approved drain point (not on floor or into sump pit unless approved)
Connect brine tank overflow to drain
Program control valve: hardness setting, regeneration time, schedule
Add salt to brine tank
Run manual regeneration cycle
Test hardness before and after to verify operation

Install under kitchen sink
Connect cold supply with tee fitting (preferred over saddle valve)
Install RO faucet (may require drilling sink)
Connect drain line before P-trap
Connect storage tank
Install all filter stages per manufacturer diagram
Flush system per manufacturer instructions

- Water quality testing before and after demonstrates value
- Follow manufacturer specs exactly — warranty depends on proper installation
- When adding softener to installer's workflow, ensure preset is updated in ServiceTitan
- Document installation with photos, register warranty
- Recommend maintenance plan to every treatment system customer
