Overview
The 30-Day Skills Assessment for install technicians evaluates safety knowledge, basic installation proficiency, and quality standards awareness. Conducted by Operations Manager between days 28–32.
Who Conducts
Operations Manager, with input from the lead install tech.
Assessment Format
Section 1 — Safety Knowledge Check
Verbal questions on:
- CO testing steps after water heater install
- Gas leak response procedure
- PPE requirements for torch work
- What to do if a job requires a permit that was not pulled
Section 2 — Quality Standards Verification
Production Concierge or lead tech reviews 5 recent jobs in ServiceTitan:
- [ ] Before and after photos on every job
- [ ] Notes written with materials and scope of work
- [ ] Correct job types coded
- [ ] No quality flags from lead tech reviews
Section 3 — Tool Proficiency Check
Brief hands-on or verbal confirmation of:
- PEX crimp and clamp methods
- Correct pipe grade for drain lines
- Correct strapping intervals for copper, PEX, and PVC
- Proper torch shutdown procedure
Section 4 — 1:1 Conversation
- Areas of confidence and areas needing support
- Any equipment, vehicle, or supply gaps
- Understanding of permit requirements for common job types
- Questions about the role
Outcomes
